La Línea police told to find alternative traffic plan and space for a toll booth

LA LÍNEA
(Photo: EuropaSur) La Línea Mayor, Alejandro Sánchez, has asked his municipal police to find an alternative traffic plan and somewhere to install a toll booth. The Council says that a new access system for Gibraltar 'will be presented this week'. This despite the fact that various legal bodies on either side of the frontier have said that a toll would be illegal. However, Sánchez has replied that tolls are charged in many cities, including London, so he doesn't see how it could be illegal. At thesame time, press reports say that Sánchez has assured everyone that a toll would not affect Gibraltar residents or cross-border workers. The aim is ostensibly to 'ease congestion and to apply a toll to visitors to the Rock.'
