LA LÍNEA Mayor Alejandro Sánchez (PP) has made a legal move in the ongoing chess game about the town's 'congestion charge': he has resorted to registering the land in fron of the frontier in the name of the municipality, as this was not listed in the Roads Network. According to a Council statement, the national road N-34 ends at the very frontier, which means that "it is municipal land from there on." Thus the stretch from the Frontier to Calle Gibraltar was registered in the name of La Línea recently. The move is not only against a State Attorney order to remove no-right-turn signs, but is also certain to increase considerable tension between the Town Hall and the central government (PSOE).
