Carer's trial suspended

LA LÍNEA (Agencies) We wrote about this horrible case earlier in the week. Now the judge in charge has asked for further information. The public prosecutor has asked for reports from th doctor and the nursing staff who attended the allegedly beaten elderly woman, who has Alzheimer's and whose beating was videoed by her family. There was agreement from all parties on the matter, so it is expected that the case will be resumed soon. There is the possibility, depending on the reports being requested, that the case could be dismissed on a technicality.>This is unlikely, according to legal sources, because it is being tried as a summary trial, of lesser degree than under the Penal Code in a criminal court, where it would probably be transferred. In a television interview, the woman's family said that it was hard enough seeing her as she is, dehumanised by the isease, and much harder to see for themselves how she was treated by her carer.
Through her lawyer in the same TV programme, the alleged perpetrator's lawyer said that she was innovcent and had never had any problems in all the years she had been working as a carer. Other sources say she is on vacation, not suspended from work as has been reported in the media.
