La Línea Mayor 'using land right to stall Spanish access to Gib airport'

GIBRALTAR Construction of Spain's access to Gibraltar's new air terminal is being held up by a row over land ownership between La Linea's town council and the central government in Madrid, says Brian Reyes in The Gibraltar Chronicle. While the project is being handled by Spain's Public Works Ministry, the land earmarked for construction adjacent to the frontier fence belongs to the municipality. Several well-placed sources on both sides of the border, all of whom spoke on condition of anonymity, said La Linea had so far refused to allow building to proceed. They said the issue had been further complicated by controversy over the congestion charge. (See whole story here.)
