School registration open for 2011/2012 cycle

ANDALUCÍA You are reminded that if you wish to register your child for school within the system of Andalucía, you must do so by March 31st. This applies to infants attending for the first time (from age 3 up) and to those returning to class in Primary or Secondary school. It is possible you may have already received notification from the school but if not, apply anyway. The way it works, the process, is as follows:


  • From March 1 to 31 you must present your request for admission (Solicitud de Admisión if your child(ren) are going to school for the first time in the system in Andalucia. The form can be obtained (only in Spanish) onilne at www.juntadeandalucia.es/educacion, but is also available at all the schools in the system. The form, only one of which may be presented in the system, must be in duplicate and it is preferably presented at the school the child wishes to attend, accompanied by the required documentation. We have found that the staff at most schools are very helpful, but try to avoid leaving it 'til the last minute.
  • Your child(ren) is/are not guaranteed a place at a given school, which depends on its capacity and the child's special requirements, if any. Should there be a 'tie' for a place, a decision by a draw will be made on March 31.
  • School should publish a list of students admittedand their points, if such is the case. (This last refers principally to senior school, usually those applying for Bachillerato.)
  • April 14 marks the beginning of the hearing procedure, if applicable.
  • Admission resolutions published on May 11.
  • Should the child not be admitted to the school of first choice, admission to another school must be published before May 14.
  • Appeals to the above, if any, begin on May 14, to representatives of the Junta de Andalucia's Education Council.
