Joe Bossano says he will continue working for his party after handing over top job to Fabian Picardo

GIBRALTAR (Agencies) A recent interview by the Campo's leading printed newspaper, Europa Sur, states that Joe Bossano, the 71 year old head of the GSLP for thirty years, will be handing over the party leadership to his successor, Fabian Picardo (photo), tomorrow. But he will still be standing for Parliament. In other words, there is a lot left in Old Joe, as we have heard him called more than once. About his successor -who became so because he stood unopposed for the party elections earlier this year- he says that although Picardo works for one of Gibraltar's leading law firms, he comes from the Socialist background of a working family. "His grandmother was a Republican, so there's good genes there," says Bossano amid laughter.
