Ronda to Gibraltar Charity Run is on Friday

RONDA/GIBRALTAR (GibChronicle) On Friday April 8, five officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police will be undertaking a 104-kilometre relay run from Ronda (photo) to Gibraltar in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Gibraltar. Two support vehicles will accompany the Officers, and Officers will each run two 10-kilometre legs, with all five running the final four kilometres together before finishing at John Mackintosh Square on Saturday April 9 at around midday. The run, which is expected to take some twelve hours or so to complete, has been organised by members of the RGP Charity Committee and is being sponsored by GIBOIL. On their arrival at John Mackintosh Square, the Commissioner of Police, Louise Wink who will be presenting a cheque for the monies raised to Mrs. Isobel Ellul-Hammond, Chairperson for Breast Cancer Awareness Gibraltar, will meet the runners.> On Saturday (9th) morning valuable advice on Breast Cancer Awareness as well as information on The Gibraltar Health Authority’s Breast Screening Programme will be available from Breast cancer awareness Gibraltar.

The sum of £2000 has already been collected from all RGP Officers and civilian support staff. The RGP Charity Committee has matched that sum bringing the total collected internally to £4000. A number of private donations have also been received.

Anyone wishing to donate funds towards this event may do so by writing to the RGP Charity Committee at Police HQ, New Mole House, Rosia Road. Cheques to be made payable to the ‘RGP Charity Committee’.
