7th International Music Festival at Alcalá de los Gazules next week

ALCALA DE LOS GAZULES (Press release) Despite the enormous financial problems affecting cultural events in Andalucía and Spain, I am extremely pleased to confirm that the 7th edition of the Festival Internacional de  Música will be going ahead in Alcalá de los Gazules this August : 10 - 13  AUGUST This beautiful village will host four wonderful nights of top class classical music, with musicians from The Soloists of London and The London Philharmonic Orchestra. We start on Wednesday 10 August with the fantastic Cadiz Bicentenary Youth Orchestra, playing pieces by Beethoven and Mozart, followed on Thursday by the return of Sony prizewinning violinist David le Page, who will join The Soloists of London for a concert of baroque classics including Bach, Locatelli and Vivaldi. Helicopter in Alcalá was part of French drug running operation

ALCALÁ DE LOS GAZULES (Source & photo: EuropaSur) Local residents thought something 'strange' was going on, especially at night. They could hear what turned out to be a helicopter that was kept under a blue tarpaulin in an apparently abadoned farm building near the road to San José del Valle. It is just part of a massive drug running operation based in France, and this chopper is what they used to bring hashish  and cocaine over from Morocco. 'Los Alcornocales: Nature Park and Future Development'

The future of Los Alcornocales Nature Park is to be discussed in a workshop at the Leopoldo de Luis Cultural Centre in Jimena (across the street from the Town Hall)  on April 22, starting at 9.30am under the title of 'Los Alcornocales: Nature Park and Local Development'. Aimed at businesses related to the park, such as tourism and agriculture, as well as to teachers and students, it is part of a progremme of environmental education that is being carried out over several months at Alcalá de los Gazules, Los Barrios and Jimena de la Frontera, all closely related to the park in various aspects of it development and conservation.
