Weekend nights bus service for the coastal area during the summer

CAMPO DE GIBRALTAR The Public Transport Consortium for the Campo announced that it would be setting up a bus line that joins up La Línea, San Roque, Algeciras and Tarifa on weekend nights, beginning on June 15 and ending on September 15. This according to Dolres Hillmer, Councillor for Youth at La Línea, who heard the news at a meeting of her colleagues called by the consortium. Although the exact schedule has not yet been finalised, the idea is to transport youth safely on Friday and Saturday nights. The service will also have a guard aboard every bus. However, there is no news of any similar service for the towns further inland, Jimena and Castellar, or whether Los Barrios is included in the line. (Prospero comment: The two inland municipalities have has much youth, proportionately, as anywhere else. Are their lives any less valuable?)

35,000 'naked' images kept illegaly

US/WORLD (Source: ZDNet) Security implies responsibility, right? A court in the US has found that 35,000 'naked' images of scans of public servants and private citizens were saved by a courthouse in Orlando  improperly -perhaps illegaly, according to an article in ZDNet quoting an investigation by Gizmodo. "So much for not being able to store, print, transmit or save the image. If you believe that, you’ll believe anything … idiots," says the shocking article, which is illustrated by the image of one of the 35,000 illegally saved pics shown here. Are we safe anywhere? (Source: ZDNet) This morning, [we] received e-mail pitches about a new piece of software called WebWatcher, which is being touted as “the first remote monitoring tool for parents to be able to fully monitor their kids’ social networking activity.” In a nutshell, it’s spy-on-your-kids software. Concerned parents install it on the computer and then watch remotely as the kids interact on Facebook, Twitter and other sites to make sure that their behavior is appropriate and that they’re not being bullied or preyed upon. In concept, it sounds like a good idea - just like it did when these sorts of products hit the scene in the late 90s as a way of tracking kids’ web surfing and IM behavior. The problem is that today, just like back then, these sorts of products do little to address real-world scenarios and, quite frankly, become a substitute for a parent actually doing some parenting.>
