GIBRALTAR (GibChronicle) A GSLP Chief Minister will never recommend an Andorra style solution for the future, Fabian Picardo declared yesterday at a party AGM in which long-standing leader Joe Bossano stepped down in his favour. Mr Picardo declared that unlike Peter Caruana, who "last year let his mask slip," he would not be willing to recommend an Andorra style solution to the people in a referendum. "No GSLP government will ever be found wanting in defending our sovereignty and in advancing our case to freely determine our political future," he declared.>

Joe Bossano says he will continue working for his party after handing over top job to Fabian Picardo
GIBRALTAR (Agencies) A recent interview by the Campo's leading printed newspaper, Europa Sur, states that Joe Bossano, the 71 year old head of the GSLP for thirty years, will be handing over the party leadership to his successor, Fabian Picardo (photo), tomorrow. But he will still be standing for Parliament. In other words, there is a lot left in Old Joe, as we have heard him called more than once. About his successor -who became so because he stood unopposed for the party elections earlier this year- he says that although Picardo works for one of Gibraltar's leading law firms, he comes from the Socialist background of a working family. "His grandmother was a Republican, so there's good genes there," says Bossano amid laughter.
