LA LÍNEA (Agencies/Photo: EuropaSur) Having started building in October 2009, construction of the new hospital in La Línea is about a third of the way to completion, according to Councillor for Health María Jesús Montero. An investment of €54.4 millions is planned for the new facility, which is due to have 248 single rooms that "will augment the admissions capacity in the Campo de Gibraltar by 40%, in itself a vast improvement in service to more than 100,000 residents of La Línea, Jimena, Castellar and San Roque." According to the project, the hospital will be able to handle 7,000 operations, attend to an average of 127,000 specialist consultations and to 80,000 emergencies per year.
