Illegal hunting - again

CASTELLAR The Seprona unit of the Guardia Civil station in Castellar confiscated some 70 kilos of illegal meat, allegedly the result of illegal hunting. The meat was being transported in a van that was on the road with its lights off last Friday. On being stopped and asked for the documents, neither the driver nor his alleged accomplice were able to explain where it came from. A patrol, in conjunction with the Local Police of Jimena, had begun an operation at Las Cainillas, on the Ubrique road, and the van was seen coming out of the Los Alcornocales Nature Park. A search of the vehicle revealed sacks full of butchered venison, as well as the horns of several specimens of deer. This kind of crime is on the increase, owing in large part to the crisis, but not infrequent in the area at other times, too.
