Mijas: Irish-British family die in apparent murder-suicide

MIJAS Three members of a family have been found dead in a Spanish apartment in an apparent murder-suicide believed to be linked to the daughter's disability. It is understood that a note left at the home on the Costa Del Sol, where the bodies of the man, a mother and her daughter were found, said the daughter's disability had become too much and had pushed them to the edge. It is thought the note was written by the man, who is believed to be British. The mother and daughter have been confirmed as Irish. The trio were found inside the apartment in Mijas, Fuengirola, on Wednesday by their landlord. Police said they were working on the theory that the deaths were a murder-suicide. It is thought the three died from gunshot wounds inflicted by one of the adults. The man and woman, a couple in their 50s, and their daughter, in her late 20s, were understood to have been long-term residents of the area.>>>

Los Pozos shooting range is approved

CASTELLAR (Agencies) The Guardia Civil has given its approval (image) for a shooting range to be built near Castellar, in an area known as Los Pozos de Marajambú, which is owned by the Junta de Andalucía. The Town Hall hopes to start building at the beginning of next month, and has an execution clause of two and a half months. Mayor Francisco Vaca met with the Committee of the Sociedad de Caza el Faisán and the authors of the project to work on the next steps to be taken. The land on which the range will be built is leased from the Junta by the Council for 5 years, which can be extended.

Hunting, shooting, fishing fair coming up

LOS BARRIOS The fourth edition of FICAPT (Feria Internacional de Caza, Pesca y Turismo Rural de Los Barrios) is scheduled from October 7 to 10 at the fair grounds in Los Barrios. Held every two years, the presentation last week heralded a large variety of events, including an exhibition of taxidermy from the Parque de las Ciencias in Granada (a superb natural science 'museum' well worth a visit there), a canary breeding exhibition, as well as an indoor shooting gallery, police dog shows, hunting dog show and much more.
