LA LINEA The headline comes straight from our good friend Sancho's blog Tilting at Windmills.It tells of the death of a homeless man called Galeote and the work being done by Mary Findlay, whose team of volunteers take clothes and warm drinks and other necessities to those who need them on the streets. It is a very moving story that we thoroughly recommend reading. We will also try to find out how we can can all help Mary Findlay with her work.

'Gaddafi's Spanish empire remains intact'

In an excellent piece of good journalism (we say somewhat in awe though not surprise) our friend Sancho has written an article under the title above on his blog Tilting at Windmills, in which he uncovers the fact that the Gaddafi family's fortunes have hardly been touched by the present crisis in Lybia. "The financial interests of Gaddafi and his family remain untouched in Spain," he says. "Clearly, for whatever reason, Spain has no wish to do this (block all his assets) and a game of buck passing is in progress with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs insisting it is a matter for Hacienda, the Interior Ministry and the Bank of Spain." It is well worth a read...

'Pay back time for the IRA'

That is the headline, illustrated with this photo, to a piece by Sancho on Tilting at Windmills. The subject is the relationship between Ghaddafi's Lybia, the IRA and present day dangers. Right up to date, as usual, is our friend Sancho. What we have been trying to find out for a very long time, though, is how he finds the time to write this and a whole lot of other aricles in a multitude of media. (Must ask him over coffee...)

PROVINCE (Tilting at Windmills) Simone Rigui and his girlfriend Isabel,  have been sentenced to jail for four and a half years and four years respectively. Simone is charged with having tried to attack the mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, and Isabel with hitting councillor Carmen Obregón in 2007 at a demonstration against El Refugio kennels and dog pound in Puerto Real. Its owners were accused of allowing animals to die in agonising circumstances by using a paralysing drug which was cheaper to administer than the normal way of euthanizing them. Summer isn't over yet. It's rained quite heavily (as it always does at least once every summer). Everything's wet (for a very short while, according to Prospero's washing line). But we should still be on our guard, according to Sancho's Tilting at Windmills blog. And he can sometimes even be right, such as with this. In any case, Prospero's cudding companion is an entertaining writer, a good man (well, he frequently pays for breakfast) and a good friend, so we're happy to recommend you read him.

'Is this what you voted for?'

You will have noticed that CampoPulse has not published a single item on the UK elections. There are those much better equipped than us to do so, and our friend Sancho is certainly one of them. His latest post on his Tilting at Windmills blog is a fine example of a journalist at work. He was in England for the momentous event while we sat here checking the Spanish online media hourly - about which the best that can be said is that they seemed amused by the 'controversy on hung parliaments' and the 'headaches involved'. They, the Spanish, are used to coalitions, as is the rest of Europe, who get along reasonably well with them.

Mapping the innermost: a woman's best friend

Sancho has done it again. In common with a large proportion of the Spanish media, he has made a point, so to speak, of a project coming out of Bibiana Aido's (photo) Ministry of Equality (yes, there is one) entitled Elaboración de un mapa de inervación y excitación sexual en clitoris y labios menores (Preparation of a map of sexual ennervation and excitement in the clitoris and inner labia), to which is assigned the handsome sum of €26,597. His comments are well worth reading. (Prospero quandary: How else does one illustrate this on a family blog?)

Sancho says: What giants?

In another thoughtful article, our friend Sancho says on his blog Tilting at Windmills, "one major difference between Britain and Spain is that whilst centre right and centre left parties predominate the far left in Spain plays a major role whereas in the UK it occupies the fringe. There are IU councillors, town halls and provincial administrations as well as MPs at regional, national and European level. So when the IU decides to mobilise it matters." Did you know that the Spanish government is proposing to raise the retirement age from 65 to 67? Or that far left parties and unions are planning major moves against it?
